Roger Ebert was one of my greatest inspirations growing up, and I still look to his work each week as some of the best film criticism in the business. His immense joy for film has been an infectious influence on me for years, and I’m having a hard time imagining a world without Roger Ebert as a role model and an entertainer.

All of us at CultureMass are shocked and upset with this news, and we’ll report any updates concerning Ebert’s untimely death when we get word.

I so respected the man. I waited until just this morning to read his Bates Motel review because I don’t like to be influenced by other opinions but in his case I made a rare exception. Not three hours later, I hear he passed away. It was upsetting to know that he isn’t there to provide the clear and insightful cultural commentaries that we thrive upon as a society. His voice will be sorely missed.
