People and critics have given Lifetime and HISTORY a lot of flack. Whether it was to question the historicity of The Kennedy’s miniseries, which never made it to air, or to continue to berate the seemingly one note portrayal of women in damaged situations on Lifetime, people always had something to say. But there was one thing that was happening, especially in the last few years… people were watching.
Monday, April 22, 2013, A&E named Nancy Dubuc as the new Chief Executive of A&E. She is the reason you’ve been watching Lifetime and HISTORY. Overseeing content like Hatfields & McCoys on HISTORY and Army Wives and Project Runway on Lifetime, Dubuc’s hard work has helped HISTORY secure its prominent top five position among cable networks in key demographics. Dubuc also worked hard to secured Lifetime’s place among women viewers where shows like The Client List, became cable’s number one show for women on Sundays.
With the growing success of original programming like Bates Motel and The Glades on A&E’s lineup, it will be interesting to see the direction Dubuc takes the network. Fans of Army Wives, Drop Dead Diva, and The Client List, as well as miniseries like Hatfields & McCoys and The Bible should be excited to see what Dubuc has up her sleeves for the upcoming years of original programming with A&E. She will also continue to oversee content on Lifetime and HISTORY and hopes to continue to impact creative content on the stations under the A&E umbrella.
