The long-awaited entry in one of the most popular Star Wars series of games might still see the light of day even after Lucasarts was shuttered by Disney. According to EA’s CFO, Blake Jorgensen, Battlefront 3 is still in the cards:
The opportunity to do a new Battlefront, for example, which is one of the very popular Star Wars games, or some of the other traditional games that were made, is very exciting.
Yeah, yeah, it’s not much to go on, and it’s certainly not a confirmation, but here are 3 succinct reasons why I think we’ll be playing Battlefront 3 in a couple of years or less:
There’s a demand for it. For both nostalgic reasons and because many consider the two Battlefronts to be the last Star Wars games that weren’t mediocre.
EA needs brownie points. Seriously, the company has gotten some nasty press recently and angered their potential customer base over and over again. Keeping a beloved series afloat would be a way to earn back some good will.
It’s something the company could market very easily. Battlefront is, in many ways, Battlefield meets Star Wars. EA’s spent more than a decade publishing and advertising Battlefield, one of their flagship franchises. It makes sense that they would know what elements to emphasize when hyping the project
Of course, I could be completely wrong. However, I’d be willing to bet on hearing about the game very, very soon. All the ingredients are there, after all.
