There is now official confirmation that Fez II has been cancelled by developer Polytron.
A teaser trailer initially confirmed the now-cancelled game’s just over a month ago and was well-received among fans of the first game.
Yesterday afternoon the following message was posted by Phil Fish, the owner and operator of Polytron, on the company’s website.
FEZ II is cancelled. i am done. i take the money and i run. this is as much as i can stomach. this is isn’t [sic] the result of any one thing, but the end of a long, bloody campaign. you win.
There has been no official word whether or not this is related to a series of arguments between Fish and games critic Marcus Beer. Should there be further word on the status of Fez II we’ll continue to keep everyone updated.
Thoughts go out to Fish and Fez fans — this likely was a difficult decision to make and came as a shock to everyone in the community.
