Award-Winning Film, AMOUR, Arrives on Blu-ray and DVD on August 20th

Michael Haneke’s latest masterpiece, Amour, will arrive on Blu-ray and DVD on August 20th, courtesy of Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. Amour was one of the most critically acclaimed films of the year, with two excellent performances from Emmanuelle Riva and Jean-Louis Trintignant, and was the winner of the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film of the Year. Aside from that, it was also nominated in the Best Picture category for the Academy Awards. Several additional critics awards were given to the film as well.

Amour tells the raw and heartbreaking story of an elderly couple, Georges and Anne, whose lives are turned upside down when Anne has a stroke, which paralyzes one side of her body. Georges takes care of her as her condition becomes progressively worse. It is a beautiful, deliberately paced, and poetic film that pulls no punches in its depiction of true love.

The bonus features on the Blu-ray and DVD include a “making-of” featurette, as well as a Q&A with director Michael Haneke.

Amour was written and directed by Michael Haneke. It has a run time of 127 minutes. It is rated PG-13 for mature thematic material including a disturbing act and for brief language. The film is in French with optional English subtitles.
